Rolf Dürr Garten- & Landschaftsbau is a five-person company located
in a small German village. While their surroundings and setup don’t necessarily sound like those innovative, trend setting company,
they have been operating successfully for nearly 30 years. What is the key to such long-lasting success? One factor for sure is the forward-thinking director Rolf Dürr whose motto is,
“impossible is no option for us.” With such a determined attitude towards customer needs, Rolf Dürr has recognised that he needs equipment that “works when he does” to fulfil his promise.

When Rolf Dürr and his team receive a request to makeover a 20-year old
Veterinary practice, he is convinced he can deliver the required accuracy
and creativity.
The stairs in front of the house
lowered by 5 cm, so the top step was 15 cm high while the bottom steps almost sunk to 10 cm. Apart from getting the stairs adjusted, the customer wants a path to the shed behind the house and asks that the horse yard be redesigned.

To get an idea of the situation, Mr Rolf Dürr not only brings pencil and paper to his first visit but his GNSS antenna – the GeoMax Zenith35 Pro TAG with tilt option. He does a quick stakeout, creates a CAD plan and makes a proposal for the recreation of the area. The customer is so impressed by the technology and the professional conduct that the deal is easily sealed.
Mastering the site
To get a clean slope in the horse yard, the ground
needs to be excavated, all the topsoil has to be
removed.
To get their humusation works quickly and accurately done, Rolf Dürr’s team uses the GeoMax Zone60 DG rotation laser combined with the MR240 receiver for excavator guidance.
Detail-work is required since the slope needs to be relatively small. Not a challenge for Rolf Dürr and his team since they know they can trust their knowledge and equipment.
The Zone60 DG is also used to define heights for privacy screen glasses and to build a dry stone wall with staircases. Rolf Dürr works with the laser rotator to get a clean slope and set the
stairs to an appropriate height, so they will not take the wrong direction.
Rolf Dürr’s favourite feature of the Zone60 DG is the two-axis grade setting option that has made his and the team’s life so much easier. “Not having to calculate the grades myself makes work a lot faster and more accurate.”
The laser was first suggested to Rolf Dürr by GeoMax distributor Gottlieb Nestle. In their 17- year long partnership, Rolf Dürr has been seeking advice from Nestle to ensure that he is staying up-to-date and has equipment on site that helps him remain efficient and successful. Rolf Dürr is convinced that “if you don’t move with the times, you will be removed with the times”.
The Zenith35 Pro TAG is used again to shape the path to the woodshed. “The antenna facilitates the work. Different points and areas are surveyed and staked out in no time,” Rolf Dürr comments with satisfaction.
