Description
B-VLOS means “Beyond the line of sight” functions. This means that the drone operator does not maintain visual contact with the aircraft. Instead, the pilot operates the UAV using Remote Pilot Station (RPS)/Ground Control Station (GCS) instruments as well as a physical observer.
Pilots are trained differently to fly B-VLOS drones. They must have theoretical and practical training to obtain a certificate & to operate B-VLOS flights. During the training, they acquire knowledge of drone navigation, meteorology, meteorology, flight performance and planning, risk mitigation measures (SORA) and flight rules.
These are necessary because of the additional capabilities of the aircraft.
